It isn’t true.

It’s important for you to love and accept yourself, essential. In fact, it may be one of the most important tasks in life. I’m just so, so sick of seeing poor, lonely, broken souls who think that because they don’t like themselves that no one else can. By “encouraging” others to love themselves with this, all it’s doing is destroying them more by making them feel even more lonely than they already are.

Sometimes what you need is someone to love you even when you don’t love yourself. It’s possible, it’s so possible. You need someone to show you that there is more to you than what you think, because we all have such jaded views of ourselves in today’s crooked society. We need somebody to show us that it is okay to love ourselves and that we’re capable of being loved and loving ourselves.

You don’t have to love yourself for other people to love you, it’s just important to love yourself no matter what. Think about all the people who commit suicide who leave behind them a wake of pain and despair. Most suicide victims hate themselves and their lives, but they’re still loved by those they leave behind, are they not?

So don’t believe it. Don’t believe that you need to love yourself to be loved. You don’t. You just need to be yourself and accept yourself, and outside love will come and go as it pleases. That’s all it really comes down to. Love isn’t this situational, predictable, definable bullshit that everybody makes it out to be nowadays.

It is what it is, and you are what you are. Focus on loving yourself, and everything else will fall into place. I promise.

For someone.
